Home phone

A home phone line that still makes sense.

Unlimited nationwide calling, 911 that carries your service address, robocall blocking and a bill that rarely moves. Digital voice runs over your broadband and mains power, so it — and a 911 call on it — stops working in an outage. Standalone or bundled with your internet — and you keep your number.

Why home phone with us

Dependable, inexpensive, and easier to add than you think.

Modern home phone service rides on your internet connection (digital voice) or the provider's network, and most plans cost less than a single mobile line. It is a sensible backup for households with spotty cell coverage, older relatives, or a home security system that needs a line.

Clear, dependable calls

Digital voice from established providers, with features like voicemail-to-email and call blocking built in.

Unlimited calling

Nationwide calling is standard; several plans include Canada, Mexico and U.S. territories.

Keep your number

Porting is usually routine and we submit the request when you order. Keep the old line active until it completes, and expect us to check first — not every number can move between carriers or across an area.

Bundle for one bill

Add a line to internet or TV from the same provider and often extend your price guarantee.

Our checklist

Before you add a line

The questions a good salesperson answers before you ask. We answer them on every order.

Talk it through
  1. 1
    Standalone or bundled?

Some providers only sell home phone with internet. We show you which is which at your address.

  2. 2
Does it work in a power outage?

Digital voice needs power and internet. If that matters, we can point you to plans with battery backup.

  3. 3
    Are international rates included?

Base plans cover the U.S.; international add-ons run a few dollars a month.

Good to know

Home Phone questions, answered.

Can I keep my current phone number?

In almost every case, yes. The new provider ports the number during activation; we submit the request when we place your order.

Is this the same as a mobile plan?

No. This page covers home (landline-style) and digital voice service. For cell plans, see our Mobile page.

Can I get home phone without internet?

It depends on the provider and your address. Many offer digital voice only alongside internet; a few still sell standalone lines in select markets. We will show you your options.

Do you provide the phone service yourself?

No. We are an authorized retailer: we compare providers and place the order, and the carrier delivers and supports the service.

Call us and we will use your number to deal with that inquiry, and pass it to the provider if you place an order. Automated calls and marketing texts need your separate say-so, which an agent asks for on the call. Consent is not a condition of purchase. See our TCPA Consent.
